Our Story

An eco-lodge in Costa Rica's rainforest

Mikado Natural Lodge sits in San José de Pinilla, Guanacaste — a quiet village minutes from Playa Avellana's world-class surf and the laid-back rhythm of Tamarindo. Each bungalow is built into the rainforest canopy so howler monkeys, toucans, and the dawn chorus are part of the welcome.

Our kitchen focuses on Costa Rican ingredients — fresh seafood from nearby fishermen, fruits and herbs grown on the property, gallo pinto at sunrise. The pool is open-air, the trails leave from the bar, and a local guide can take you spotting wildlife or to the closest break.

Whether you come for the surf, the silence of the forest, or both, Mikado is a small lodge that feels like a private retreat — a handful of bungalows, one bar, and the kind of staff who remember your coffee on day two.
